PROGRAM SUMMARY FOR NURSE AIDE STUDENTS:

As a student enrolled in our Nurse Aide program, your training will include taking and recording vital signs, proficiency in infection control, assisting residents to promote their independence, monitoring behavior changes, professional communication with patients, awareness of changes in bodily functions, helping some patients to perform day to day tasks, and learning how to physically handle and move patients and associated care items.

The Nurse Aide program is a 5-week program. Graduates will receive a Certificate of Completion for the Nurse Aide Program from RGV College upon successful completion of the course. All students must pass the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) Nurse Aide Certification Examination in order to register as a Certified Nurse Aide.

• Provide nursing or nursing related services to residents in a facility under appropriate supervision
